How does Cosmelan® work?
Pigmentation develops when melanocytes, the cells responsible for producing melanin, become stimulated and produce excessive pigment.
An important enzyme involved in this process is tyrosinase, which plays a key role in melanin production.
Cosmelan uses multiple depigmenting ingredients to interfere with different stages of melanogenesis — helping reduce existing pigment while controlling excessive pigment production.
This is particularly important with conditions such as melasma, where removing visible pigment alone does not address the ongoing activity responsible for its recurrence.
