Pigmentation is more complex than simply having excess colour on the surface of the skin. Conditions such as melasma, sun-induced pigmentation and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation involve increased or dysregulated melanin production within the skin.

Cosmelan® is a professional depigmentation treatment designed to target existing pigmentation while helping regulate the processes responsible for producing new pigment.

What is Cosmelan®?

Cosmelan® is a professional pigmentation treatment developed by mesoestetic®.

Unlike a traditional chemical peel that primarily relies on exfoliation, Cosmelan combines an intensive in-clinic treatment with a prescribed homecare program to provide both pigment correction and ongoing pigment regulation.

It can be used to target:

  • Melasma

  • Sun-induced pigmentation

  • Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH)

  • Uneven skin tone

  • Persistent areas of hyperpigmentation

How does Cosmelan® work?

Pigmentation develops when melanocytes, the cells responsible for producing melanin, become stimulated and produce excessive pigment.

An important enzyme involved in this process is tyrosinase, which plays a key role in melanin production.

Cosmelan uses multiple depigmenting ingredients to interfere with different stages of melanogenesis — helping reduce existing pigment while controlling excessive pigment production.

This is particularly important with conditions such as melasma, where removing visible pigment alone does not address the ongoing activity responsible for its recurrence.
