How laser treats facials veins?
Our laser technology works through a process called selective photothermolysis.
Light energy is delivered at specific wavelengths that are absorbed by haemoglobin within the blood vessels. This energy converts to heat, causing the vessel to coagulate, collapse, and be naturally cleared by the body.
Long pulse ND:YAG laser operates at a wavelength of 1064nm, allowing it to penetrate deeper into the skin compared to other vascular lasers, making it particularly effective for larger, deeper, or more resistant vessels.
Telangiectasia
Small, visible blood vessels that sit close to the surface of the skin, most commonly on the cheeks and around the nose.
They form when capillaries become permanently dilated and lose their ability to constrict.
Laser targets the blood within the vessel, causing it to collapse and gradually clear.
Diffuse redness/ Erythema/ Rosacea
Persistent redness caused by dilated blood vessels sitting beneath the skin surface. It commonly appears across the cheeks, nose, and chin as flushing or background redness.
Triggers such as heat, alcohol, stress, and environmental changes can worsen the appearance, making redness more frequent and long-lasting over time.
Nasal capillaries
Small, visible blood vessels across the nose that appear as fine red or purple lines.
They form when surface vessels become permanently dilated and more prominent over time.
ND:YAG laser targets these vessels with precision, reducing their appearance and improving overall skin clarity.
Cherry angiomas
Small, bright red vascular lesions caused by clusters of dilated blood vessels.
They are harmless but can become more noticeable over time.
ND:YAG laser precisely targets the vessel, allowing the lesion to fade and clear.
Poikiloderma of Civatte
A mixed condition of redness, pigmentation, and visible vessels that gives the neck and chest a mottled, uneven appearance.
Caused by chronic sun exposure as well as genetics, it typically spares the shaded area beneath the chin.
ND:YAG laser targets the vascular component, helping to restore a clearer, more even skin tone over time.
Targets the vessel directly
Laser energy is absorbed by haemoglobin within the blood vessel, allowing the vessel itself to be treated rather than just reducing surface redness.
Treats different vessel depths
Long pulse ND:YAG penetrates deeper into the skin, making it effective for larger or more established vessels that sit below the surface.
Precision without widespread damage
Energy is delivered selectively to the vessel, minimising unnecessary impact on surrounding skin and supporting controlled, targeted treatment.
Progressive, cumulative results
Some vessels respond quickly, while others require a series of treatments. Results build over time based on vessel size, depth, and skin response.

Not Sure? Let’s Break It Down.
Does ND:YAG laser treatment hurt?
Most people describe the sensation as a quick snapping feeling against the skin. It’s very tolerable and doesn’t require numbing, though sensitivity varies depending on the area being treated.
Will I be red or have downtime after treatment?
You may experience mild redness or warmth immediately after treatment, similar to light sun exposure. Some vessels can darken before fading. Most clients return to normal activities straight away.
How many treatments will I need?
This depends on the size, depth, and type of vessels being treated. Some respond quickly, while others require a series of treatments for optimal results. We do recommend up to three treatments to begin with.
When will I see results?
Some vessels disappear immediately, while others gradually fade as they are reabsorbed by the body. Results continue to improve over time with each session.
Is ND:YAG laser safe for my skin?
ND:YAG is one of the safest and most effective lasers for treating vascular concerns. Treatment is adjusted based on your skin type and vessel characteristics to ensure safety and results.
Can facial veins come back after treatment?
Treated vessels do not return, but new ones can form over time due to genetics, sun exposure, or lifestyle factors. Maintenance treatments may be recommended.
Can I treat multiple concerns in one session?
Yes, treatment can often address a combination of vascular concerns such as facial veins, redness, and cherry angiomas within the same session.
Do I need a consultation first?
Yes. A consultation allows us to assess your skin, determine suitability, and create a personalised treatment plan tailored to your concerns.
Why ND:YAG over other treatments?
ND:YAG penetrates deeper into the skin, allowing it to effectively treat a wider range of vessel sizes and depths compared to more superficial treatments.
